Ellies Trip Page

Well for me it started months ago with a dream. A dream to meet friends off the net in real life (IRL). I began to look at taking this trip with my son and decided that the September school holidays could be the only time to do it. A very good buddy once told me that dreams come true. All I can say is that they do but sometimes we have to want it bad enough and work hard for it.

I had not been to New Zealand since I was about 7 years old so my memories of that time were not clear. There were a few places I wanted to visit but in true scouting style some things are left to chance.

All packed and ready to go

Jb and I talked for weeks before of the places I wanted to see, Larnach Castle, St Faiths Church (Rotorua), a Maori Marai and we talked of the people I wanted to meet.

I am pleased to say that all I wanted to see I saw and then some things that I never expected to see. Things have a way of guiding you to places you never would have thought of looking, like Ohwhango, and Lake Tekapo. We went to these places possibly more by accident than by design. But the adventure was worth the trip.

I saw seals and albatrosses in their natural surroundings, magnificent chapels and churches. A castle and a cathedral. Got pushed out of the minibus just cos they could and we camped in a tent in the rain and cold with 6 other lovely people who have come to be like family to me. I have met many people I have spoken to on the net for ages and they were all so nice.

Please enjoy our pages as much as I enjoyed my trip.

Always taking photos and on the tower at Larnach Castle.
