Christchurch Cathedral
This Cathedral is in the centre of Christchurch because the city was established as an Anglican settlement and its leaders wished to have a cathedral at its heart.
The foundation stone was laid in 1864, only 14 years after the city was founded and the Cathedral was consecrated in 1881.
We were not able to take photos inside and they were undergoing earthquake renovations but the magnificence was there all the same.
We lit candles for absent friends and those we knew in Timor and other warzones. Said some prayers and wandered through. The whole cathedral was filled with the spirit of good feelings. It was awesome.

The statue wore a red glove that day for world peace.

The Lord's Prayer in Maori
E to matou Matua i te
rangi
Kia tapu tou Ingoa.
Kia tae mai tou ranatiratanga
Kia meatia tau e pai ai
ki runga ki te whenua,
kia rite ano ki to te rangi
Homai ki a matou aianei
he taro ma matou mo tenei ra.
Murua o matou hara,
Me matou hoki e muru nei
io te hunga e hara ana ki a matou.
Aua hoki matou e kawea kia whakawaia;
Engari whakaorangia matou i te kino;
Nou hoki te rangatitatanga, te kaha, me te kororia,
Ake ake ake. Amine
