New Zealand Army Museum

Waiouru

The Queen Elizabeth II Army Memorial Museum is situated in the town or Waiouru, about 3 hours drive north of Wellington.

After a hearty parkside breaky we made our way to the museum. Mostly what I can say about this is wow. The displays date from the Maori wars over two hundred years ago (pre white settlement) and progress through many theatres of war to the modern day roles of peacekeeping forces in such places as Somalia, Bosnia and most recently East Timor.

For the children it showed them how their army has protected their country and for the adults I think it showed how their hard earned tax payers money is spent.
